Year of 2014

New Years is a day of making goals, renewing our selves and becoming that much closer to who we know we can be.  It seems like the older I get, the faster the years fly by.  The days and weeks turn into months and years and I cannot believe another year has come and gone as quickly as it has.  We enjoyed a wonderful New Years dinner full of ham, mashed potatoes, homemade rolls, salads and dessert.  We sat down and wrote how we wanted to improve and the steps it would take to make those dreams come true.  It is a fresh start to where you decide "I'm going to be better..."  We enjoyed a family walk and took some random pictures that I'll include.

We spent the following day at a local charity called, "Toys for Smiles."  It is a wonderful little establishment that is completely non profit and where they make toys for orphans, homeless and less fortunate.  The kids are able to sit down and check them, sand them and oil them down.  Then they sort them and we are on our way.  It is a wonderfully safe environment where I have tried to go every year. This year, we went by ourselves and the kids enjoyed sharing, painting and inspecting like little elves.

It's a great feeling to serve others, even in a small degree.  We spent many hours there and left with a car each and hopefully the meaning of helping others in need.  I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to doing it again soon.
